Stylish Fashion & Home Decor
Exploring the Journey of Creations By Julie Brayton
What will the new year bring in colors, style and fashion? Probably not too much will change honestly. I was doing some research on fashion trends and the “in” thing right now is animal prints among other things. I remember when I was in my 20’s I had an interest in designing clothing styles and I wanted zebra fabric for one of my designs. I couldn’t find it anywhere. Now we see animal prints everywhere. Remember when animal prints were associated with floozies? Lol!
I named this Article “In Love With” well that would be designing. Lately I have been working very hard at Etsy as a platform to sell my designs. It’s not easy and the “experts” say different things on how to succeed. I think I found someone who I believe is spot on with how to work the paltform and I am seeing success. To My surprise I sold a Puffer Jacket I designed with one of my paintings as the pattern to someone in the UK. Pretty cool! I have been focusing on two shops at the moment. One with my art on prints etc but I separated any clothing and accessory items to a different shop that’s listed below.
I am having a lot of fun creating patterns and designs to put on bags and clothing. The next obstacle I have had to overcome is finding clothing styles that come close to what looks fashionable. At this point I am not actually designing the clothing style. Too much at this point but I do have plans for that in the future. In the meantime I focus mainly on fabric designs. The dress in the above photo is a fabric design I made. The dress is a classic style that lends to creative fabric designs. In that dress I played around with a zebra print. What do you think? I have more to come but in the meantime you can check out some of my new work in the link below.

I have seen 3 out of 4 of these items. They turn out great! The Lilac travel bag has a soft hard surface, if that makes sense. It’s lined and quite nice. I have other pattern designs.
The Kimono I liked the fabric very much. It’s a heavier cotton blend feel and I have other patterns to choose from as well.
The french cottage patterned bag is a wide mouthed soft construction light canvas feel great for over night or shopping.
I think they would make great gifts!
My Why
In everything I do nature is incorporated. My goal or mission is to bring reminders and connection to the importance each individual has through the connection to nature. How we all can honor the essence of who we have always been meant to be. Creativity, whether through collecting art or creating it, is a healing force that allows us to embrace, tell and own our stories in a transformative and ultimately joyful way.
